Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I love living in my duplex apartment with my two pets, Kina and Kalesi. I have lived here for 10 years and bought this property, which is 56 years old, and is part of a housing complex in Lima, Peru. I really like that it is located in a very safe district of the city.
I loved it from the first time I saw it because the spaces are super bright and spacious, and little by little I have been reforming it to my liking, since I am an architect and interior designer. In the beginning I shared the property with my previous husband, but after divorcing I stayed living here as the sole owner, which I am very grateful for as it is a very peaceful and light-filled place, especially in summer when there is a lot of sun.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Bright, cozy, pastel colors, calm, quiet, peaceful.
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is my bedroom, since it is very spacious. I can count on a dressing table for my self-care and recently, during the pandemic, I have implemented a home office desk. I also really like it because I painted the wall behind my bed with pink stripes. Pastel colors are my favorite because they transmit peace and tranquility to me.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I have acquired is a carpet from the Peruvian Indian Market and I put it in the living room. I also bought a decorative basket at the Plaza Vea supermarket in Lima. I bought my plants at the Promart Homecenter in Lima. Also two years ago I carried out the remodeling of my kitchen and it was impeccable. And a year ago I swapped the old windows for thermo-acoustic ones since in winters the cold is very strong in Lima.
Any advice for creating a home you love? I highly recommend taking into account the lighting and colors you use, depending on the personality of the users. I recommend seeing inspirational images and not being afraid to try and make mistakes. And if it is possible that they resort to a professional in the decoration, do it for a better decorative intervention.
